Abstract

Career decision-making is a crucial process that influences individuals’ educational, occupational, and future life trajectories. However, many individuals experience career indecision due to limited self-understanding, insufficient career information, and a lack of value-based considerations in career choices. Existing career decision-making models primarily emphasize psychological and cognitive dimensions, while the integration of spiritual values remains limited, particularly in Muslim contexts. This study aims to analyze and synthesize the concept of career decision-making by integrating contemporary career theories with values derived from the Qur’an. Employing a qualitative library research design through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), this study examined relevant publications in reputable national and international journals over the last decade. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify conceptual relationships between modern career theories and Qur’anic principles. The findings reveal a strong convergence between Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) and Qur’anic values, particularly in the dimensions of career planning, self-efficacy, adaptability, consultation (shūrā), effort (ikhtiar), trust in God (tawakkal), and ethical responsibility. The integration of cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions produces a more holistic framework for career decision-making. This study contributes to the development of an Islamic-integrated career decision-making model and provides insights for more contextual and holistic career guidance practices.
